Musher Question & Answer

How many years have you been running dogs?
11
How did you get started running dogs?

My 3rd-grade class followed the Iditarod in school. Growing up in Anchorage my parents always took me to see the start. I decided when I was 7 I wanted to be a dog musher someday and started working at kennels as soon as I finished high school.

What do you love most about running sled dogs?

I love the self-sufficiency and the challenge, mushing is a lot like teaching to me - you take a group of individuals and get to watch them evolve into a cohesive unit. Each dog has such a unique personality and it's fun to watch them grow and learn alongside me.

Are you a member of any other organizations involved in sled dog sports?
Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association
Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
Being a resident of Fairbanks, I've handled on Quest before and always enjoyed the atmosphere. I'm eager to strengthen my bond between me and my dogs in this race. My goals are to finish with a healthy and happy team
