How many years have you been running dogs?

How did you get started running dogs?

I gave a Siberian Husky pup to my kids for Christmas in 1977 and then ran the Iditarod with Ron Gould in 1979.

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
I entered the Yukon Quest to cross it off my bucket list. The goal is to survive.
How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?

We give each litter a theme, e.g. cities in Spain, friends, the cosmos.

What music do you listen to on the trail?

My team once entered a chicken coop and ate a few of its residents. Then the checkpoint guy laughed and said not to worry, that it was the most fun he’d had all winter. It’s described in my book ‘Beyond Ophir’.
