Musher Question & Answer

How many years have you been running dogs?
12
Tell us about your dogs, particularly some stories or facts about dogs running the 2022 race with you

My dog Dempster has a passion for anything dangerous or tricky. He yips loudly through every tide turn, doing down hills and through Icy section and the dumpster would go faster. Now I say "easy" for up hills! You will know him by his handsome red fur, and he always positions himself on the far left.

How did you get started running dogs?

Started with 3 Eskimo Dogs and 1 Siberian!

What do you love most about running sled dogs?

Being in the bush with my dogs enjoying the scenery traveling by dogsled

Are you a member of any other organizations involved in sled dog sports?
DPSAY
Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
Most dogs in my kennel will be too old to run this Race again. I want them t have one more opportunity!
How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?

I have 4 dogs that I got from Michelle Phillips that I named all "Yukon" names. All other dogs I acquired from kMy ennels and I didn't change their names.

What music do you listen to on the trail?

Most timer nothing. I like to be aware of my surroundings sometimes without distraction of music. However, traditional East Coast music!
