Life on the trail of the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race just got a whole lot easier for the logistics team, thanks to Manitoulin Transport.
The Yukon Quest 2017 is excited to welcome Manitoulin as the Official Transportation Sponsor - Yukon. Manitoulin will be providing the free use of several pieces of transportation equipment during the race and the year-round storage at their Whitehorse terminal.
“We would not be able to move all of the necessary materials up the trail on time without the use of Manitoulin Transport's reefer trailer,” said Natalie Haltrich, executive director, Yukon Quest. “We have hundreds of food bags and straw bales that need to be distributed to checkpoints for the mushers and their dog teams to access during the Yukon Quest. Manitoulin ensures the mobility of our logistics crew, helping them get the job done safely and efficiently. The additional use of their storage trailer in Whitehorse is a huge asset for us. This allows us to keep everything in-check before and after the race. Manitoulin is a big help in ensuring the success of this event. They make it possible given their vast distribution coverage in the North and their assortment of transportation equipment.”
“We are proud to be part of Yukon Quest given its strong cause of promoting the traditions of the North,” said Jeff L. King, president, Manitoulin Transport. “Manitoulin has always taken an active role in the local communities that we serve. It’s important for us to support events such as this which have such a positive effect on so many people.”
