Board Nominations – Applications Requested

The Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race is seeking applicants for both Alaska and Yukon Boards of Directors.

  • Four (4) Alaska board members will be elected in May 2014 to serve three-year terms
  • Five (5) Yukon board members will be elected in May 2014 to serve two-year terms
  • Two (2) Yukon board members will be elected in May 2014 to serve one-year terms.

Qualifications: To be considered for either board, applicants must be members in good standing of the respective board they are applying for as of May 22, 2014 and able to travel to Canada or the US without legal restrictions. Each country has different requirements for applying, check with the appropriate office.

Commitment: Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings (teleconferencing is available) and to attend two joint meetings with the other board (in Fairbanks in spring, in Whitehorse in fall; two days for each meeting, not including travel time). Board members should expect to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per month to board meetings and other Yukon Quest business. Special events and other projects may take additional time.

Application: To submit your name for consideration for the 2014 board elections, please complete the appropriate application form and return it to the corresponding organization by the appropriate deadline. Each country has different requirements for filing as indicated by the different deadlines. * The Yukon Quest 1,000 mile International Sled Dog Race organizations are comprised of two Boards of Directors, one in Alaska and one in the Yukon. Each board provides governance and fiscal responsibility for the organization in their respective country. The two organizations work in concert to plan the race and to ensure the long-term viability of the race.
