Musher Question & Answer
How many years have you been running dogs?
Tell us about your dogs?
Many have finished Yukon Quest and Iditarod, and 1,000 mile plus trips after Iditarod in 2016 and 2017.
How did you get started running dogs?
I did my first race when I was 4 years old. My family have run dogs since before I was born. I grew up doing smaller races in Norway and helping at our tour business.
What do you love most about running sled dogs?
I enjoy working with dogs and learning their personalities. Having happy and strong dogs is very rewarding.
Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
In 2016 I was a handler to Torsten Kohnert, I enjoyed the feel of the race and loved the landscape.
What music do you listen to on the trail?
I don't usually listen to music when I race, if I'm training I like to listen to podcasts and a variety of music.
How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?
Our dogs usually get Inupiat names, a litter of our younger dogs were born in the dogbox on the Dalton Highway so they were named for places along the highway.
