The Yukon Quest has been run every February since 1984 across 1,000 miles/1,600 km of wilderness trail between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. This incredible international winter sports event starts regardless of weather conditions.  The race lasts 10 to 14 days depending on weather, trail conditions and team speed.

A maximum of 50 mushers can enter the Yukon Quest.

In 2012, the race starts Saturday, February 4^th in Fairbanks.

Yukon Quest mushers must be at least 18 years old by the race start date and must have demonstrated their ability to successfully complete a 200-mile and a 300-mile sled dog race within the previous 42 months to enter the Yukon Quest.
