Yukon QuestThe 1000 Mile International Sled Dog Race
The Yukon Quest has been run every February since 1984 over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of wilderness trail conditions between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. This incredible international winter sports event starts the second Saturday of February regardless of weather conditions and lasts from 10 to 14 days, depending on weather, trail conditions and team speed.

A maximum of 50 mushers are permitted to enter the Yukon Quest, and the $200,000 (US) purse is divided among the first 15 finishing teams with the Yukon Quest Champion taking home $35,000. All finishing teams receive $1,000 (US).

Yukon Quest mushers must be at least 18 years old by the race start date and must have demonstrated their ability to successfully complete a 200-mile and a 300-mile sled dog race within the previous 30 months to be allowed to enter the Yukon Quest.

Yukon Quest Testimonials
Yukon Quest was thrilling and exhilarating. We loved seeing the teams depart and waited further along the route to give encouragement to the dogs and their handlers. We gained respect for the Quest participants after we tried dog sledding ourselves. A world class event in breathtaking surroundings.
