Jason Campeau withdrawn

Thursday, February 8, 2018

Yesterday afternoon at 1:28pm PST veteran musher Jason Campeau (bib #6) from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta pressed the help button on his race-tracking device approximately 45 miles outside of Eagle, heading towards Dawson City.

The organization coordinated with trailbreakers who arrived on the scene to assess the situation. Campeau suffered a medical issue which made it difficult to continue the race and provide sufficient care for his team. An air rescue crew has been sent in to Campeau’s location to airlift him to Fairbanks. His team will be driven back to Eagle and flown to Campeau’s handlers in Dawson City.

Campeau will be admitted to a hospital in Fairbanks for medical attention.
