Kluane Freight Lines Lightens the Load for Yukon Quest

Monday, November 20, 2017

Mushers of the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race can rely on their drop bags and straw at checkpoints to run a successful race, thanks to Kluane Freight Lines.

As the Official Logistics Sponsor - Yukon, Kluane Freight Lines will once again provide their services and warehouse space for the pre-race food drop in Yukon. Food drop takes place on January 20th where dog food, musher food, and supplies for the trail are handed over in bags marked with designated checkpoints to the race organization for distribution to each checkpoint.

In addition to their staff and warehouse support during the food drop, Kluane Freight Lines is also responsible for providing a truck and driver to haul a trailer full of food drop supplies and straw to Dawson City, including pick-up when the race is complete. Kluane Freight Lines also works closely with out of town mushers to sort out the logistics of transporting their gear and drop bags to Whitehorse in time for food drop.

“Having Kluane Freight Lines’ support for the pre-race food drop is very helpful as it is a logistics-heavy event,” says Natalie Haltrich, Yukon Quest Executive Director - Yukon. “From having the space, to the staff, to getting it down the road to Dawson City, to the extra work they put in with out of town mushers, Kluane Freight Lines truly understands and embraces their role as Official Logistics Sponsor – Yukon.”

“Kluane Freight Lines is delighted to once again be one of the many integral components to support the Yukon Quest from start to finish,” says Len Williams, Vice President of Operations, Kluane Freight Lines Ltd.
