Yukon Quest Short Story Contest Winners

The Yukon Quest and the Yukon Literacy Coalition worked together again this year to bring the Yukon Quest (Short) Story Contest back! Again, it was a success with an impressive 70 story contributors from students in two age categories (gr.1-3 and gr. 4-7). 


Winner of the Grade 4-7 category
The Long, Hard Trail by Jack, homeschooled from Fairbanks, Alaska 

Runner up in Grade 4-7 category
The Red Lantern by Connor from Whitehorse Elementary (grade 5)
Special Mention
The Raccoon Musher by Gabriel from Whitehorse Elementary (grade 4/5, age 10)
Winner of the Grade 1-3 category
The Dog Alert by Nigel from Whitehorse Elementary School ( Grade 2)
No runner-up as we had one entry for this grade category. 
The winning stories will be featured on CBC with an opportunity for the children to read on-air. They will also be framed and featured at the Yukon Quest office, so come check them out.
Grade 1-3 category winner Nigel took home an Allen Moore signed 2018 Street Banner along with a YQ t-shirt, calendar, neck buff and calendar.

Grade 4-7 category runner-up Connor took home a t-shirt, postcards, YQ magnet and trail reflector.
