Yukon Quest Announces Fall Events Schedule

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

It’s less than four months from the start of the 31st Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race, and we’re celebrating the countdown with some exciting fall events.

Alaska Events

The annual Rookie Workshop will be held at the Alpine Lodge in Fairbanks on October 12th, from 10 am to 4 pm. This event is intended for rookies who plan to run either the 300 or 1,000 mile Yukon Quest races. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP by calling 907.452.7954 or email to questops@mosquitonet.com

Several veteran mushers will be at the event, as well as Dr. Nina Hansen with the International Vet Team and Race Marshal Doug Grilliot, who will speak about procedures on the Yukon Quest Trail.

That same night you can join the Alaska crew at their Yukon Quest 31st Birthday Party, from 6-10 pm at Ivory Jacks in Fairbanks. Stop by for some delicious birthday cake, enjoy the live music, and maybe meet or talk to a musher.

If you haven’t bought your Fall $10,000 Raffle ticket, don’t miss out! Tickets are $100 each, with only 250 sold. There are 12 cash prizes to be won, including $10,000.

The Alaska drawing will take place at the Badger Den in North Pole on October 19th starting at 6 pm. All ticket buyers get tasty hors d’oeuvres for two and lots of fun, with a chance to win money while supporting the Yukon Quest! For more information on the raffle, contact the office in Fairbanks at 907-452-7954 or yukonquest@mosquitonet.com

Later this fall, get set for a fun night out at the annual Beer/Wine Tasting Auction on November 16th in Fairbanks. The office is currently collecting items for the auction. Details to come. Contact us if you’re interested in helping out with one of our largest fundraisers.
