With less than a month before start time, the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race is excited to welcome another sponsor to the team.

The Fort Knox Gold Mine is back for a second year as Official Supplier of the Yukon Quest, with a $10,000 cash donation. An open pit gold mine in the Fairbanks mining district, Fort Knox is owned and operated by Kinross Gold.

“The Fort Knox Gold Mine is a great partner and sponsor of the Yukon Quest,” said Marti Steury, Yukon Quest Executive Director – Alaska. “Their continued support shows their dedication not only to this historic race, but also to our many northern communities.”

Mining and mushing share a long history in our great state. A history of toughness, ingenuity, love for the land and its people," said Dan Snodgress, General Manager and Vice President of Kinross Fort Knox. "The employees of Fort Knox are very proud to once again sponsor the Yukon Quest."
