The Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race would like to clarify that, as per Yukon Quest Race Rule 43, all dog teams are required to be clear of prohibited drugs and foreign substances from the time of the vet check until the team is released by a Race Veterinarian or Race Official after the team has finished the race.
“The Yukon Quest’s priority is the welfare and safety of the teams during race time,” says Yukon Quest Board of Directors – Alaska President, Ryan Hughes. “Our rules are reviewed year-round to ensure we strive to meet this goal during race time every year.”
Blood and urine samples can be collected up to two hours after a team has finished, scratched, or been withdrawn or disqualified from the race.
